A man has been charged after he was caught on CCTV lying on the ground on his back, asleep and covered in mud, while he slept in an Aspen hotel.
The incident took place in the resort’s parking lot at Aspen Springs in California.
A man was sleeping on the floor, according to court documents.
His bed sheets were down and his head was facing away from him, according the arrest affidavit.
When a hotel employee noticed that the man was lying on his stomach and he was covered in a thick layer of mud, the employee contacted police.
“The man was not sleeping properly, was partially submerged in mud and his feet were in mud,” according to the affidavit.
The man told police he was sleeping when he was found and when he awoke he found his bed sheets down and the floor was wet.
“The bed sheets had a slight amount of mud covering them,” the affidavit reads.
“The bedsheets had a layer of dried mud over them, covering them and making them look wet and dry.”
The man said he went to a nearby motel and the room he was staying in was not well ventilated, according in the arrest warrant.
He said the motel had a “good deal of mud and grass” on the floors and in the ceiling.
Police took him into custody and booked him into the county jail for allegedly being in a state of undress and obstructing government.
