Washington state has become a popular destination for tourists looking for a respite from the heat.
But many locals are not so happy about the influx of hotels.
More:Mount Washington hotel industry says there are no plans to expandThe Mount Washington Hotel Association (MHA) says its concerns are not new.
In 2014, it warned that the influx was having a negative impact on the tourism industry and the local economy.
“There’s just been a lot of hotel construction that has been going on in the Mount Washington area for the past several years,” MHA chief executive officer Brian Denny told TheWashTimes.
The industry is concerned about the number of hotels and the impacts that this has on the environment, which he said has been affected by the development of hotels in the area.
According to Denny, Mount Washington’s hotel population is expected to rise by about 100 to 200 guests per day.
But the MHA is not entirely against the new hotels, arguing that there are a number of positives.
It says that the hotel industry in Washington state is growing, and that many locals, like the MDA, want to visit Mount Washington.
So what’s the problem?
The Mount Wash Times has contacted a number local hotel operators about whether they have plans to open more hotels in Mount Washington in the near future.
There’s no word yet on whether the hotels will remain closed for the summer.
